In the movie "O'Brother Where Art Thou", Junior asks his dad, "Aintcha gonna press the flesh, Pappy, do a little politickin?". Much like Pappy O'Daniel in the movie, the Obama Administration is finding it impossible to be the "reform" candidate when you are the incumbent. The "blame Bush" strategy no longer works and the public has really caught on to the fiscally disastrous plans of stimulus, Obamacare, tax increases, and union bailouts.
With the November elections fast approaching, I had to get a quick post out before the elections with my predictions and observations. I would like to take you back to my post in 2008 regarding the presidential election:
I really believe that the entire presidential election was a statement about the Republican competency for the past eight years. The American public found the Republicans to have made serious mistakes in the economy and (much like the Democrats of the past two years) really accomplished nothing.
For me, the election really came down to "Socialist Policies" vs. "Same old, same old". Not really a pleasant choice for anyone in my book.
There is little money in the government coffers for large social programs. McCain or Obama would have a tough four years ahead of them and the public expectations are high.

Much like my assessment in 2008, this year's mid-term election is a statement about the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party's competency. The Tea Party movement is a statement of both the Democrat and Republicans core competencies (or lack thereof).
All the experts are saying that the Democrats are going to take a historical loss in this year's mid-term elections. So, it's going to be bad for the Democrats; the only question is how bad?
My prediction: Dems lose the House, but hold on to the Senate. I think we will see the end of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as House and Senate Majority Leaders.
Now the big question for the Obama Administration... Does President Obama abandon his current objectives and move to the political center in an effort to salvage his presidency much like Bill Clinton did in 1994? or does he continue down the road of European style social programs and end his presidency like Jimmy Carter in 1980? Only time will tell.
Of course, these are just my opinions... your actual mileage may vary.
